Brief Introduction of ESC
The Entomological Society of China (ESC) was established in 1944. ESC is
an academic organization of Chinese entomological scholars affiliated with
the China Association for Science and Technology and its headquarter is
attached to the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences,
Beijing. ESC holds together members and organizes various academic
activities in promoting the development of science and technology in the
fields of entomology. The society endeavors to popularize scientific
knowledge and plays an advisory role in solving important problems related
to insects and in entomological theories. ESC is vivid in international
affairs and has wide relationship with many foreign societies and
institutes. Now ESC has established bilateral and multilateral cooperation
with International Society of Entomology and the Entomological Society of
Asia.
By the end of 2002, the ESC has 11819 individual numbers and 2 group
members.
Activities of the ESC
(1)Organizing International and national academic, scientific and
technological exchange; Popularizing entomological knowledge£»
(2)Publishing entomological journals, proceedings and books;
(3) Carrying out consulting work in the area of Entomology;
(4) Undertaking to prove projects, appraise achievements, etc. in the
entomological sciences;
(5) Conferring ESC awards;
(6) Recognizing membership; carrying out a continuing education and
training to members;
(7) Reflecting the opinions of the members and safeguarding their legal
interests;
(8) Promoting the development of science and technology in the fields of
